Who Are We?
Our Mission
We are a nonprofit organization that brings empowerment, resiliency, and confidence to underserved youth through the healing spirit of the outdoors.
Why Does it Matter?
RAIN is a non profit organization that was founded to provide an opportunity to explore and adventure for underserved, at-risk youth. Children ages 5-18 lacking social support and structure are significantly more at risk for unemployment, homelessness, and incarceration than the general population. Many of these children are one of 14,000 children that have struggled their way through the foster care system. But through RAIN they are welcomed by Mother Nature with open arms. We hope to give these children the sense of belonging that they seek. We will adventure the vastness of the earth, but give them a sense of security within it. We will introduce them to enriching outdoor experiences, like kayaking, horseback riding, backpacking, and camping. We will equip them with wilderness survival skills, allowing them to navigate their own worlds. These experiences are not meant to be luxuries, but are essential to the human spirit.
We will be alongside them, appreciating the beauty of the earth, and in the meantime, we hope to make their world, and their dreams, a little bigger.
